Why should I join Linqia?
By joining Linqia, you can easily connect to the online community or group that is a perfect match for you. You can also upload a group, comment or rate it. If you are a moderator, you can also claim a group.
Who can have a Linqia profile?
Everyone! Linqia profiles can be created for users, communities and groups.
How do I join Linqia?
Very simple.
- Click the ?Join? button that appears at the top of your screen. You may also click on OpenID and enter with your existing OpenID passport. You can also create your own Linqia OpenID.
- Fill out the information and click ?Submit.? You must be of legal age or have permission by your parent?s to join this service. You must have a valid email address.
- After you click ?Submit?, a confirmation link will immediately be sent to your email address. If you do not see it in your inbox, check your bulk mail folder.
- Verify your Linqia account by confirming your email address.
- Upon confirming your email address, you will then be taken to your Linqia Home page with a message confirming that your account has been verified. Or, you will be asked to log in to your tribe account before you are directed to your Linqia account and the confirmation message.
- Type inside the Linqia search bar the keywords that best describes the online communities or groups you are searching for.
- TADAH! Linqia found matches for your search.
- Go to the online group or community that Linqia found for you and...Enjoy!
Why is Linqia asking for my email address?
Linqia needs it to verify and activate your account. Your email address and other personal identifying information will be kept private.
How do I verify my Linqia account?
When you complete your registration, we will automatically send you a special link that you must click to verify your account. Until you click this verification link, you will not be able to use most of the features that Linqia has to offer.
When the email with the verification message arrives in your inbox, click the verification link, or copy and paste it into your browser. When you do this, you will either be taken to your Linqia Home page with a message confirming that your account has been verified, or you will be asked to log in to your tribe account before you are directed to your Linqia account and the confirmation message.
Do I need to create a username and password each time I sign up on an online group or community that Linqia has found for me?
It depends on the community or group.
In some cases you will need to create a new username and password. In other cases, you will be able to use your OpenID profile. Communities and groups who offer OpenID will be referenced in their Linqia profile.
If you do not have an OpenID profile, Linqia provides you with an OpenID Server. You only need to fill out relevant data ONCE to create your Linqia username and password. This username and password will allow you to access online communities and groups you are a member of or thinking of joining.
How is my personal information displayed?
You can control what information you want to submit in your Linqia profile. By clicking on the link ?view profile?, you can see your personal information as others see it.
Who can see my Linqia profile?
Your Linqia profile is visible to everyone. You can configure many of these modules to remove information that you do not want others to see.
Is Linqia free?
Yes ? Linqia is free.
As a member, what can I do on Linqia?
You can upload, claim, rate or comment on a group. You can also add groups to your Linqia profile. You can also connect to other members and group moderators. You can post recommendations, ratings, comments, requests and participate in Linqia discussions. You can also receive notifications about special interest groups.
What can I do on Linqia if I choose not to become a member?
You can still search for online communities and groups. You can still read content posted on Linqia.
However, Linqia is most useful when you have a clear idea on what a particular online community or group is all about. In order to enjoy all the helpful Linqia features designed to make your virtual life easier, you must be a Linqia member.
Using Linqia
What will I do if I have forgotten my username or password?
If you forget your password or your username, simply click on "Forgot your password?" under the login area on the start page. After you enter your email address (or your username), we will send you a link to a password reset page. You can use this to create a new password. After that, you can immediately login to the site.
How can I change my basic profile information?
You have the option of changing your data at any time. Click on ?Edit my Profile? To save your changes you must scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Save" button.
How is my name displayed?
The nickname you choose.
How do I change the name that appears on my profile?
To change the first and/or last name associated with your profile, just click on ?Edit Profile? and edit the name. After you've edited your name, click "save" and your updated name will appear immediately in your profile.
How do I change my email address?
You can change your email address under "Start ? Edit Profile ? Contact details ? Email addresses". Please be aware that you must re-confirm the contents of your profile once you have made your changes for security reasons. You will then receive an email sent to your new email address. Please click on the link in the email to confirm the changes.

What does Linqia do with my information?
Linqia respects your privacy. We do not distribute your user information to marketers or spammers. You can read more about this in our Privacy Policy.
What do I do if another Linqia member is bothering me?
Please write a message using our contact form and state the following information:
- Details of the incident
- Information regarding the person bothering you
- Your address, telephone number and email address;
Linqia will investigate this report and take appropriate measures. All abuse reports on Linqia are confidential.
Searching On Linqia
How do I search on Linqia?
The Search box on every Linqia page is a keyword search. All terms you enter there will be compared with every community or group profile field and matches will be returned. The community or group profiles returned are precisely those profiles which contain the terms you searched for.
If you are looking for a specific phrase (more than one word), you should enclose the phrase in quotation marks (e.g. ?Global Business Women?). In this way, you will only see profiles which contain precisely this phrase.
You can search in specific categories, tags, URL, title, full text on group description or location applying to the group. You can also combine a search for specific keywords with a search in specific categories.

You can search on Linqia home page using the big search bar and/or use the search bar located on every Linqia page on the upper right side.

Who can create a group profile?
Every registered member can create a group profile either as a group member, moderator or owner of the group.
